This is the personal website of Robert Mims, CPA. This site gives the reader a more personal look into Bob’s life. You will learn more about Bob Mims the CPA, sports, health, and fitness enthusiast. More importantly, the reader will also learn more about Bob in the context of his Christian faith.

Welcome! My name is Robert Mims, a CPA, Christian, and huge basketball fan who’s also into my family, health and fitness. Those within my immediate circle call me Bob, and to them, I am more than Bob Mims, CPA. To my family and friends, I hope that I represent being a Christian first before anything else. I decided to create this website to let others get to know me a little bit more. It’s not always comfortable talking about personal interests, inspirations, feelings, and thoughts face-to-face. This site, ironically, gives me a little bit of privacy, which I find somewhat encouraging. I can talk about anything and everything here more freely; allowing me to express my thoughts and feelings on a deeper, more personal level, while having some fun and hopefully providing some humor and insights that may help..

Since this site is still in the development stage, I decided to kick things off with four pages for now: Home, News, and Basketball. These, on top of my About page. I will see first how things progress before deciding whether to add more pages.

Who is Robert Mims, CPA today?

Three things shaped me into the man I am today: religion, my profession, and my wife (Jane) and the kids (Hannah, Andrew, Ben and Holland). You see, Bob Mims, CPA is but a fraction of who I am. First and foremost, I am a Christian. I attempt to live by my Christian values and faith not because it makes me a better person but predominantly because of my thankfulness to Christ for His forgiveness and salvation that He provides by His grace. These have helped shape, improve, and understand all aspects of my life tremendously. If there is one word to describe how I feel about being Christian, it would be “grateful.”

As for Robert Mims the CPA, this profession has given me fulfillment in ways I would have never imagined. As a CPA, I learned to look at problems from a technical point of view; that is, free of emotions and biases. I learned that taking emotions out of the equation allows you to see the problem more clearly, which in turn helps you find the appropriate solution. When problems arise, I put on my Bob Mims the CPA hat and deal with these head-on.

My family is my life. They give me immense joy and pride. One of the things I love to do with the kids is to teach them everything I know about basketball. This sport has given me a great opportunity to bond with my daughters and sons, and not a week goes by where we don’t play hoops. Last year, I was able to coach my 60th season of basketball, which was not a great year in terms of wins (none) and losses (all of them). However, last year was an example of how to learn the lessons from basketball and apply them richly into my life and hopefully others.

I support my kids in everything they do, and I believe that one way to show this is to coach their respective basketball teams over the last twenty years. It has given me the chance to get to know my  kids’ friends and at the same time, forge a father child relationship with each one of them.

So there you have it. I am who I am today because of these.
