Robert Mims, CPA News Page

For Bob Mims, CPA, all work and no play makes for a very stressful life. This is why he makes it a point to engage in sports and other activities at least  five times per week. He believes that having interests outside of work helps create balance in your life. This News page is dedicated to some of the favorite activities/sports of Robert Mims, CPA; from golf to swimming, P90x workouts, yoga, and more.

For most of the week, I wear the Bob Mims, CPA hat. While I am grateful for my career, and I appreciate all the opportunities given me to not only advance in my professional life but also to earn a good income to give my family an opportunity in life, I recognize that life isn’t, and shouldn’t be, all about work. In order to stay healthy, mind, body, and spirit, you have to take care of your personal needs, too. And for me, sports and exercise are two things that help create balance in my life. With that said, I share with you news and interesting stories about my favorite activities: golf, swimming, and yoga. Lately, I’ve been practicing P90x workouts, so I’d like to talk about that too here.

Golf

The 2017 Presidents Cup is gearing for President Trump’s attendance on Sunday. Three former US Presidents are also expected to join the opening festivities: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. The last time more than one president joined the festivities was back in 2005, when both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush made an appearance at the tournament.

The 12th Presidents Cup kicks off on September 28 and concludes on the 1st of October.

Stay tuned for updates on the tournament from Bob Mims, CPA.

P90x

In a nutshell, the P90X workout is a fitness and exercise program that involves cross-training, athletic, and a dietary supplement plan. The program was developed by Tony Horton, a personal trainer, who was an actor in a former life. Since its conception back in 2005, the P90x at-home video has sold more than 3.5 million copies.

When I learned that the P90x program could help your golf game, I didn’t think twice about getting a copy! Anything that would help improve your game on the green is a good investment, in my opinion.

Robert Mims, CPA will share his progress with the program in the coming days so kindly stay tuned for that.

Yoga

If you haven’t tried yoga, I strongly encourage you to do so. The first few tries might be a little difficult, and you might find your body sore all over after, but once you’ve gotten past this hurdle, I guarantee you will never turn your back on yoga ever again.

Yoga is a sacred practice for me. When I take off my Bob Mims, CPA hat, my go-to relaxation technique is yoga as it immediately gets me out of my stress zone after a few minutes. The fluidity of the movements, the breathe-in and breathe-out technique, and simply focusing on my movements instantly clears my head. I find that I’m more relaxed and energized at the same time after a good yoga session. I believe Yoga and Christianity are compatible, as the Bible share multiple times of taking care of our bodies as well as “being still” before our God.

I will share more about these topics in future posts so please watch out for those.
